The Harris County Medical Examiner has identified the Spring woman killed by Pct. 4 Deputy Constables overnight.

Michelle Miller, 46, was shot and killed during an altercation in the 23900 block of Spring Dane Drive.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a request for a welfare check at a home.

Family members near Waco called deputies to say a woman at the home was making threatening calls against them and law enforcement.

Deputies say they arrived at the home at about 9 p.m., and the woman arrived a short time later. She got out of her vehicle armed with a gun but allegedly ignored commands to put down the weapon. Deputies say she raised her weapon in their direction, so one deputy opened fire.

“We heard about 6 to 8 gun shots,” said neighbor Jorge Cruz. “It was scary to figure out that there was something like that going on right next-door.”

The woman was shot and died at the scene.

According to HCSO, deputies have responded to the home before for similar incidents where the woman threatened law enforcement. The woman allegedly had a history of mental illness.

“I think she had kind of an idea that people were after her,” neighbor Dennis Burrows told KHOU 11 News. “...very nice. She had a lot, it seemed like she had a lot of mental things going on.”
