HOUSTON — A woman was found shot to death Friday inside of a home in Houston's northside.

This happened around 9 a.m. at a home in a gated community in the 300 block of San Julio Drive near Yale Street.

Detectives with the Houston Police Department said officers went to the home because an alarm was going off. Officers knocked on the front door but no one answered, so they called the woman's daughter.

HPD said the daughter let officers inside the house and that's when they found the woman dead from a gunshot wound.

Detectives believe this scene is a homicide.

Police are canvassing the neighborhood, interviewing neighbors to see if they can identify a possible suspect.

Police said the home does not appear to have been broken into, but a door being left open is what triggered the alarm to call the police.
