It's a quarter past 5 a.m. on a Wednesday morning, but music is blaring from beyond the closed doors at SWEAT1000.
"It's unlike anything that I've ever been a part of or heard of," says instructor Frank Torres.
Born in South Africa, the gym's location near 18th & Shepherd is the only one in the U.S.
"They can't get it anywhere else in America except Houston, Texas," Torres says.
The idea is constant movement for a full 60 minutes.
"Even during the recovery, the rest periods, you're still moving," explains Torres. "You don't ever stop."
Every class is different with a new mix of exercises on the treadmill and the floor.
"I love it," says member Kasey Long. "You're hopping from a treadmill to the floor, so you're getting a workout on everything. It's very fast-paced."
Though how you'll work out can vary, you can expect interval training, functional training, core stability work, athletic training and agility to work up a sweat.
"It is one of the best workouts I've had in Houston," member Caroline Walter says.
SWEAT1000 offers classes seven days a week. A schedule is available here.
