United flight forced to return to Bush Airport after bird strike

Video from George Bush Intercontinental Airport, taken just after the plane landed, showed emergency crews at the gate with the aircraft.

HOUSTON — HOUSTON - A flight has safely returned to Houston after the plane hit a bird just after take off. Passengers aboard the United A-320, bound for Canada, told KHOU 11 News, the flight crew and people on board remained calm after the strike.

Video from George Bush Intercontinental Airport, taken just after the plane landed, showed emergency crews at the gate with the aircraft.

United released a statement conforming the bird strike.

United flight 1780 from Houston to Calgary returned to Houston and landed safely following a bird strike upon takeoff. We are in the process of changing aircrafts in order to get our customers to their final destination as quickly as possible. Our maintenance team is currently inspecting the aircraft.
