FORT WORTH, Texas - One of the state’s largest living Christmas trees was the core of Texas Motor Speedway’s holiday charity event in Fort Worth Tuesday night.
The 10,000-plus LED lights on the 74-foot, 7,000-lb. Norway spruce were lit during the Speedway Children’s Charities grant event where more than $258,000 was distributed to nine children’s organizations in North Texas.
The organization also gave 75 children bicycles and helmets, as well as 25 car seats to underserved families.
The largest grant was a Founder’s Grant for $139,847 given to the Sci-Tech Discovery Center that will be used to bring the Mobile Maker Space – a workshop on wheels -- to life for children.
