AUSTIN -- Creative crosswalks are being created across the country and the world, including right here in Austin, Texas.
They serve as a playful, cost-efficient and low-maintenance tool to highlight marked pedestrian crossings.
The idea of creative crosswalks is to highlight Austin's individual community's personalities.
"This is an application-based program, which is allowing us to respond to things that the community wants to do, to express who they are," said Katherine Gregor, program manager with the City of Austin Transportation Department.
You can call 3-1-1 to suggest a location for a creative crosswalk and can submit your application to the Transportation Department.
