Body found in Lady Bird Lake identified as missing UNT grad

Police have identified the body found Sunday in Lady Bird Lake as that of a person reported missing two days before.
According to police, the body of 22-year-old Julio Santos III was found in Lady Bird Lake near the Holiday Inn next to Interstate 35.

AUSTIN, Texas – Police have identified the body found Sunday in Lady Bird Lake as that of a person reported missing two days before.

According to police, the body of 22-year-old Julio Santos III was found in Lady Bird Lake near the Holiday Inn next to Interstate 35.

Police said Santos was reported missing on Friday. Santos was last seen at East Sixth and Red River streets around 2:30 a.m. Friday.

Friends said they last saw Santos at Barbarella, a downtown dance club. According to social media reports from friends and family, Santos recently graduated from the University of North Texas and became separated from friends downtown Thursday night.

While police originally said the death appeared suspicious, police said Tuesday the medical examiner found no suspicious trauma to Santos' body and that the death is being investigated as not suspicious.

Police are asking for any information from anyone that may have seen Santos anytime on or after Friday, June 5, 2015.
