Alleged hitman goes to trial in 2015 murder of popular dentist

A beautiful dentist, 35-year-old Dr. Kendra Hatcher was shot in the garage of her upscale apartment in downtown.

It was the murder that rocked the City of Dallas in September of 2015. A beautiful dentist, 35-year-old Dr. Kendra Hatcher was shot in the garage of her upscale apartment in downtown.

Police say it was a murder for hire plot. Former Dallas Assistant Chief Randy Blankenbaker was over the homicide unit at the time. "It's almost like a made for TV movie, except in this case, these are real people whose lives were destroyed."

Police said Brenda Delgado was the mastermind behind the plot. "Ms. Delgado was involved in the planning and commission of the offense,” said Major Max Geron in an interview in 2016.

Police said she was jealous that Dr. Hatcher was dating her ex-boyfriend, so she hired a hitman. Kristopher Love was arrested for pulling the trigger. His trial starts Monday.

Delgado's friend, Crystal Cortes was arrested for driving the get away car. She was captured on video in the garage at time of the murder.

Delgado fled to Mexico and wasn't arrested until a year after the shooting. While on the run she made the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list, which is the agency's list for the most dangerous people in the world.

"The fact that it was a murder for hire, the fact the chief suspect fled the location and went to another country and the violence led to her being put on that list,” said Blankenbaker.

Kristopher Love faces the death penalty if convicted but Delagado the alleged mastermind is a Mexican citizen and permanent U.S. resident. She was turned over by Mexican authorities with the agreement that she would not face the death penalty.
