Austin Water estimated 200,000 gallons of wastewater spilled into Lake Creek in northwest Austin after storms caused an overflow late Friday night.
According to a release, the overflow at the Lake Creek Lift Station began around 10:50 p.m. Friday and was stopped around 2:50 a.m. Saturday. Crews have completed repairs and the station along the 8600 block of Parmer Lane is operating normally as of Saturday evening.
Austin Water said the overflow did not affect Austin’s drinking water supply, and that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has been notified.
Residents are advised to avoid contact with “waste material, soil or water in the area potentially affected by the overflow.”
