Rotary Club of Katy preps for Wild West Brew Fest

The event takes over the parking lot at Katy Mills Mall on May 4 & 5.

On a Thursday night, No Label Brewery Co. is packed - not just with customers, but with members of the Rotary Club of Katy.

"This is Stuff the Cup for Wild West Brew Fest," says member Chris Garcia.

He and a couple dozen others spent hours filling taster cups with a drink ticket, a free Alamo Drafthouse movie ticket and a Lyft card, all in preparation for the huge event scheduled May 4 & 5.

"It's like a gathering of Rotarians getting together, having fun, drinking some great beer, enjoying the time together while getting something done for a good cause and a good community," says David Loesch, chairman of WWBF.

The event has grown exponentially over the years, now boasting more than 125 brewers and 500 beers. Because the event is run by the non-profit Rotary Club, all of the $650,000 it has raised over the past six years is given back to the community. It's also the only beer festival in the country endorsed by Mothers Against Drunk Driving, according to Garcia.

"We do this on our own time because we love to do it," Loesch says.
