HOUSTON — Lake Houston will be lowered by a foot Monday as part of scheduled maintenance on the dam, the city of Houston announced Friday. 

The Coastal Water Authority is lowering the lake to improve its stability, the city said. 

The city advised property owners to secure property along the shoreline before lowering begins Monday, Feb. 25. 

The lower lake levels are expected to last one week.
