HOUSTON - A rare, vintage race car will be auctioned off in November in Houston.

The 1966 Shelby GT350 Mustang that legendary driver Sir Stirling Moss drove competitively from 1993 to 1999 will hit the auction block at the Dan Kruse Classic Houston Classic Car Auction on November 25 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Moss won 212 of the 529 races he entered including 16 Formula One Grand Prix races and the legendary Mille Miglia.

It sold at the Worldwide Auctioneers Auburn Auction in 2012 for $561,000, per Bob DeKorne of Heacock Classic.

According to Dan Kruse Classics, Moss first raced the car in the Targa Tasmania; then drove it throughout North America and Europe.

“I can’t think of words adequate enough to describe the rarity of this extraordinary 1966 Sir Stirling Moss GT350 Shelby being offered at our next auction in Houston,” said Dan Kruse, President of Dan Kruse Classics in a statement. “You can almost hear the engine revving up and the cheers of the crowds, it’s that special.”

Moss, a member of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, was quoted as saying it was his “favorite car of all time” for historic racing, according to Kruse Classics.

The car comes with proper documentation.
