Mother of Santa Fe shooting victim confronts Cruz at Webster campaign stop

"And you still have not introduced common sense reform that would save kids' lives," Rhonda Hart said Thursday night. Hart's daughter, Kimberly Vaughn, was one of 10 people killed back in May.

WEBSTER, Texas – Things got a little intense at a rally for Sen. Ted Cruz in Webster when the mother of one of the Santa Fe shooting victims confronted Cruz about what he's done about gun control.

“And you still have not introduced common sense reform that would save kids’ lives,” Rhonda Hart said Thursday night.

Hart's daughter, Kimberly Vaughn, was one of 10 people killed back in May.

“Ma'am, you can ask your question, and I’m gonna treat your question with respect, but we're not allowed to shout each other down, and I will point out that I have called you and my office has called you at least four times, I an more than happy to meet with you at any time.”

Cruz told Hart that he has filed legislation that would strengthen background checks and put more armed security officers in schools.
