HUMBLE, Texas - Seventy eight children were absent on Wednesday and more were sent home from a Humble ISD elementary school after getting sick.
The principal of the Woodland Hills Elementary School, Debi Beard, sent out a letter to parents on Wednesday.
In the letter, Beard said the common symptoms were vomiting and diarrhea.
As a precaution, Humble ISD custodial services sanitized the school and will conduct another thorough cleaning Wednesday evening.
The Harris County Health Department was also contacted as a precaution.
The department asked to speak to a small selection of parents to aid in their investigation and to help determine if any additional steps need to be taken for prevention.
No other campuses have reported an unusual number of absences.
Woodland Hills Elementary will open as scheduled on Thursday.
