HOUSTON — JJ Watt went deep seven times Saturday night – five in regulation and two more in a playoff -- to again win the home run derby before his annual softball tournament Saturday night at Minute Maid Park.
Watt edged out quarterback AJ McCarron, who also hit five homers in regulation, but could only muster one in the playoff.
Watt won last year, as well.
DeShawn Watson played in the tournament and went deep once. Former Texans punter Shane Lechler also went deep, but didn’t hit enough to make the playoff.
The softball classic raises money for the JJ Watt Foundation, which funds after-school middle school athletic programs in Wisconsin, Texas and other states.
