Girl, 6, dead after being struck by truck in NW Houston, police say

The driver was questioned, but no charges have been filed.

HOUSTON — A 6-year-old girl died Wednesday after being struck by a pickup truck in northwest Houston.

It happened around 5 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 9600 W. Montgomery Road near W. Gulf Bank Road.

The child was crossing the street when she was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck heading toward the complex entrance, according to a Houston Police Department release.

Paramedics took the girl to Texas Children's Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police said they're working to figure out if the girl had just got off a bus or ran across the street from her apartment complex. She reportedly did not use the crosswalk.

HPD said the pickup truck driver stayed at the scene. It was determined they were not impaired after questioning and an evaluation.

No charges have been filed, and the case is still under investigation.
