Firefighters rescue man after trench collapse in NW Harris County

The Spring Fire Department Technical Rescue Team worked with the Klein Fire Department get the man out.

SPRING, Texas — Firefighters rescued a man who was trapped after a trench collapsed Tuesday afternoon in northwest Harris County.

The collapse happened around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Champion Forest Drive and Gleannloch Forest Drive. Officials said the 35-year-old man was buried up to his chest but was conscious and talking.

The Spring Fire Department Technical Rescue Team and the Klein Fire Department got the man out shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

It's unclear at this time what led to the collapse. The man inside suffered a fractured ankle.
