HPD: Driver flees after fatal crash with pedestrian

The accident took place along FM 1960 Friday night. Police say the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when she was struck.

HOUSTON — The Houston Police Department is looking for a driver who fled the scene after a deadly crash with a pedestrian.

The accident took place around 8:30 p.m. Friday on FM 1960 near SH 249.

Police were told by witnesses that a woman was struck when she tried to cross the street. The driver reportedly drove away without stopping to help. 

The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene. According to initial reports, the victim was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a white Cadillac Escalade with heavy damage on the front of it. There is no information on the vehicle's license plate or what year it is.

Officers are searching for any surveillance footage to help identify the driver.
