Drunken driver crashes Cadillac on light rail tracks, police say

Jail records show the driver has now been charged with driving while intoxicated.

HOUSTON — METRO police had to call in a crane to remove a woman’s Cadillac SUV after she drove on the elevated tracks north of downtown.

Jail records show the woman, identified as 29-year-old Jeanette Perez, is charged with driving while intoxicated.

The incident happened in the 1800 block of N. Main near Hogan.

Both METRO and Houston police responded to reports of a woman heading southbound on the tracks from the Burnett Transit Center along Hogan. She continued down the tracks nearly 500 feet before she crashed into a pole, disabling the SUV.

Perez was placed in the back of a patrol car for questioning and was later charged by METRO PD.

A crane had to come out to pick the vehicle off the tracks and bring it down to the street below.
