Driver dies after being trapped in burning car on Highway 249

The Harris County Sheriff's Office say the driver lost control of their Chevrolet Impala and then struck the guardrail and then a concrete pillar.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A driver died after being trapped in their car as it burst into flames during a crash on the Tomball Parkway overnight.

The fatal crash happened around 3 a.m. heading north in the 19300 block of the Tomball Parkway near Cypresswood Drive.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office say the driver lost control of their Chevrolet Impala and then struck the guardrail and a concrete pillar. The driver was trapped as the car burst into flames.

Deputies were unable to free the driver in time, and they were pronounced dead at the scene.

They believe the driver is a white female, but are unsure at this time.

One lane, two frontage road lanes and the exit ramp remain closed heading north.
