MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — Texas Rangers are investigating a shooting that injured a 2-year-old in Montgomery County.

We're told the shooting happened around 6 p.m. Thursday. 

Authorities said the child was shot and was taken to Texas Children's Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Sergeant Erik Burse with the Texas Highway Patrol said the toddler is the child of a Montgomery County Sheriff's deputy.

At this time, it appears the shooting was accidental but the investigation is ongoing.
