Clown hoax reaches Houston

Now the threats are in Houston, and several schools and police departments are calling them a hoax.

People posing as clowns on social media are forcing schools nationwide to send letters to parents and some have even locked down.

Now the threats are in Houston, and several schools and police departments are calling them a hoax.

KHOU 11 asked Houston Independent School District and Humble Independent School District for a copy of the threat they received, and they were unable to give us a copy. Our researchers scoured the web and discovered a Houston-area schools hit list posted on Instagram by "Locotheclown.htx." The school districts were unable to confirm the hit list was the threat they received.

The hit list includes: Cypress Park High School, Morton Ranch High School, Taylor High School, Westside High School, O’Donnell Middle School, Holub Middle School, Elsik High School, Grady Middle School, Yates High School, Northside High School, Sam Houston High School and one school not located in Houston.

HISD, Humble ISD and Bay City ISD are the only three districts that have notified KHOU 11 News that they’ve received the threats.

Clown threats have also been made toward two Central Texas schools and an alleged attack in Ohio closed several schools.
