HOUSTON — Houston Public Works is preparing to lower Lake Houston ahead of heavy rain expected this week.
Officials said Lake Houston is at 42.45 feet and is still receiving water from storms this weekend. The lake has a normal pool elevation of 42.5 feet.
The four gates on the lake’s dam structure are open and will stay open to lower the lake to 41.5 feet before the next round of rainfall.
City officials are urging property owners along the shoreline to prepare for lower lake levels.
