HOUSTON – An apartment complex was evacuated overnight due to a carbon monoxide scare in west Houston.
It was a scary situation for residents when fire crews rushed out to the complex after a carbon monoxide alarm was triggered.This happened in the 9200 block of Westheimer.
Now this gas is both odorless and colorless, so firefighters had to use their thermal imaging system to track down the source.
Turns out, it was a running car inside a closed garage.
Firefighters then immediately began rushing residents out. They even had force their way inside a few of them after some folks didn’t wake up.
Many residents were seen standing outside, shocked and startled, all while crews opened up doors, windows, and used fans to ventilate the building.
In total, 16 apartments were evacuated. No one was seriously hurt.
