A National Guard helicopter is stuck in the mud after an emergency landing in the Baytown area overnight.
The chopper landed in a muddy field off of I-10 near FM 3246 late Tuesday, There were no reports of injuries.
A truck driver tells KHOU 11 News he was sleeping when he felt his parked big rig vibrating.
“I didn’t know what was wrong,” said Conrad Kessler. “I thought someone was coming into my truck. I looked out the windows, and the pilot, he did an excellent job putting her down. It could have been a lot worse.”
The truck driver said the pilots told him there was a mechanical issue with the aircraft.
“Something in the transmission on both sides of the chopper had overheated, and his emergency light came on. So he needed to get her down before a problem happened.”
There's no word yet from the National Guard as to how or when they'll remove the helicopter.
