CONROE, Texas – The saga surrounding a tiger found roaming the streets of Conroe last week has taken another turn.

The tiger’s owner Cody Tibbits officially turned the big cat over to Conroe Animal Control on Monday. Tibbits said he bought Nahla two weeks ago and was trying to make his ownership legally binding. He said Nahla got loose while trying to transport her to a friend’s home during last week’s flood.

“I just want the best for her,” Tibbits said. “I want to make sure she’s cared for and not kept as a zoo animal…She’s not a threat.”

Conroe Animal Control is now trying to find an animal sanctuary that will take in Nahla.
