MAGNOLIA, Texas - More than 100 birds were rescued from deplorable conditions Tuesday at a property in Magnolia.
The Houston SPCA rescued the birds, which included geese, chickens, turkeys, ducks, parakeets and finches. SPCA officials say dozens of birds were living in cages with feces and debris piled up in several rooms. The barnyard birds were found scattered throughout the backyard.
Houston SPCA’s veterinary staff is caring for the 120 birds.
Shelter officials encourage owners of animals who are in similar situations to contact their animal cruelty investigations team for help.
