HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Spilled wet cement is likely to blame for a crash that killed two people Friday morning in northeast Harris County, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The accident happened on Old Humble Road near Bender Road shortly after 6 a.m.

Sheriff Gonzalez said right before the accident a Lattimore Materials cement truck malfunctioned spilling wet cement on the road.

That's when a vehicle drove over the wet cement, lost control and crashed head on to another vehicle on the other side of the median, Sheriff Gonzalez told KHOU 11.

Both drivers died on scene.

One driver was identified as church choir director, Dr. LaTonya Earl, 50.

The mother of three attended The Church at Bethel's Family.
