HOUSTON - One suspect is in custody and another is still on the run following a robbery and SWAT scene Wednesday afternoon at a southwest Houston apartment complex.
Police responded to reports of a robbery just before 3 p.m. Wednesday across the street from an apartment complex in the 12100 block of Fondren Road near West Airport Boulevard.
Witnesses told police they followed two suspects to the apartment complex after a robbery across the street. Police responded to the scene, and when the suspects refused to come out of the apartment, SWAT was called.
SWAT officers spoke to the suspects over a loudspeaker, and one of them came out of the apartment. Police believe the other suspect was able to escape from the apartment at some point.
Witnesses said both suspects were armed with handguns, but police have not confirmed whether they were armed. They are searching for the second suspect.
