Gov. Scott declares State of Emergency in Orange County

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Governor Rick Scott issued a State of Emergency in Orange County following the mass casualty shooting in Orlando on Sunday.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Governor Rick Scott issued a State of Emergency in Orange County following the mass casualty shooting in Orlando on Sunday.

The City of Orlando declared a local state of emergency earlier in the day.

Governor Scott issued the state of emergency due to the "foregoing conditions."

The call for emergency comes after a shooting at the Pulse nightclub in downtown Orlando resulted in the deaths of 50 people and forced 53 other victims to the hospital.

The shooter has been identified as Omar Mateen of St. Lucie County, according to ABC News. According to Congressman Alan Grayson stated at the 10:15 a.m. address to the media that Mateen is a U.S. citizen.
