Schwarzenegger, Verlander, Mattress Mack and other celebrities remember George H.W. Bush

Professional athletes and celebrities took to social media on Saturday to remember the former president.

Celebrities are joining politicians in paying tribute to former president George H.W. Bush on Saturday.

Bush, whose political career spanned three decades, died Friday at age 94.

Here are what some stars are saying about the former president on Twitter.

Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote a full statement about Bush's passing on the online publishing platform Medium.

He tweeted out the link wth a shorter, yet just as sweet, message: "President Bush has left us for one last flight but his destination isn't unknown. He's flying into the arms of the love of his life, Barbara. This evening, each of us should take a minute to look up and offer him a silent thanks."

Texans star J.J. Watt tweeted, "Rest In Peace President Bush. #RIP41"

Jim Mcingvale, also known as Mattress Mack and owner of Gallery Furniture, wrote a touching tribute to Bush on his Facebook page.

He wrote: "President George H.W. Bush was a great friend, mentor, example, father, son, husband, Navy pilot, Texan, leader of our great country. We all mourn together at the news of his passing while we celebrate his return to his wonderful wife and our God in Heaven. We all pray together for him and for strength for his family. Please comment below with your message of support for his family and what you admired most about president George HW Bush or your favorite memory of him. Thank you and God bless you, his family, your family and our country."

Mcingvale also added a photo of him shaking hands with Bush at Bush's Houston home back in 2003.

Astros star pitcher Justin Verlander posted a picture with Bush 41 and Bush 43 in Minute Maid Park.

Goldie Hawn said her "heart aches" knowing Bush has passed.

"My heart aches knowing George Bush 41 has passed. An authentic caring human being who never hid his truth. He will always remind us 2 exemplify that wining will never be our legacy. His love for life and family will live on RIP dear soul."

Ellen DeGeneres remembered meeting him in her hometown.

"I will never forget George H.W. Bush and President Clinton meeting me in my old hometown of New Orleans to show support and raise money after Hurricane Katrina. I send my love to his family tonight."

Chaz Bono also sent his condolences to the Bush family.

"My condolences to the Bush family on their tremendous loss. President George H W Bush spent his life in service to our country," he wrote. "Though I didn’t agree with most of his policies, I appreciate and respect his dedication as our President and VP, and his love of our country."

Actor George Takei also expressed his condolences.

"President George H W Bush rejoins the heavens, adding his own point of light among the thousand he once so beautifully described," he wrote. "A nation mourns the loss of a leader, and a family their beloved father and grandfather."

"Everybody Loves Raymond" actress Patricia Heaton gave her condolences.

Actor Josh Gad said good bye to Bush whom he called a war hero and a great man.

NCIS actress Pauley Perrette wrote about a dream she once had about the former president:
