HOUSTON — A man has been arrested after he kidnapped a woman and then crashed her SUV into a school bus in north Houston.
Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, Christopher Dexter Emerson, 52, kidnapped a woman outside a drug store in the 12900 block of Aldine Westfield, according to deputies from Constable Ted Heap’s Office.
Deputies said Emerson threatened the woman with a knife, repeatedly assaulted her and forced her to withdraw money from a nearby ATM.
Emerson allegedly held her hostage for nearly two hours while driving through Houston in her SUV.
Around 5 p.m., the victim tried to escape as Emerson braked for a school bus unloading children.
When he tried to stop her from escaping, Emerson crashed the SUV into the bus and then fled on foot, deputies said.
The crash happened in the 13400 block of Chrisman. It's unclear if anyone was hurt in the accident.
Deputies with Precinct 5 tracked Emerson to the backyard of a nearby house and he was arrested without incident.
Emerson has been charged with felony counts of aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping.
Deputies said the woman was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
