LA PORTE, Texas - A youth football coach is charged with touching an underage relative.
According to court documents obtained by KHOU, the girl told her pastor that Craig Michael Gibbs, 41, walked around naked with her, touched her breasts and made her do “superhero” poses.
Gibbs told investigators he made the girl do poses “to build her confidence.” When confronted about whether Gibbs inappropriately touched the girl, he said, “I can’t absolutely say it never happened.”
Gibbs was a coach for the La Porte Cowboys and Cowgirls peewee football organization. Dallas Lott, the team president, says he was unaware of Gibbs’ charges until this weekend.
Lott said Gibbs became a coach at the beginning of this year and voluntarily stepped down. Lott said the organization ran a background check on Gibbs before he was hired, but nothing came up.
Craig is charged with indecency with a child and is out on bond.
