Young woman fatally shot in Spring neighborhood

Some children apparently witnessed the aftermath of the shooting as someone performed CPR on the victim.

SPRING, Texas — A woman's body was found in a Spring roadway overnight.

The woman, later identified as 20-year-old Alyssa Reagins, died from an apparent gunshot wound, according to deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

A witness told KHOU 11 News he heard the shot around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. He went outside and saw the woman on the ground and someone frantically performing CPR.

HCSO says the 911 call about the shooting on Pepper Ridge Road initially came in as a suspected suicide, but when deputies arrived they couldn't find a weapon.

The woman was reportedly staying at a nearby home with other adults and multiple children. It's believed the children, some of them very young, witnessed the aftermath.

The witness who heard the gunfire says the road is a dead-end, and the block is typically very quiet.

Investigators say they are working to see if any of the homes have surveillance video as they received conflicting statements from witnesses at the scene.
