Suspect stabs 75-year-old woman to death before stealing her car, police say

Investigators learned Cobos had been sleeping in a stolen truck in the area for at least two days before the deadly stabbing.

HOUSTON — The suspect accused of stabbing a 75-year-old woman to death has been identified.

Marco Cobos, 19, has been charged with capital murder.

Homicide investigators responded to a call just after 1:30 p.m. Monday in the 8100 block of Neff Street. They said a family member asked police to check on a woman who lived there. Police arrived at the home and found the woman dead.

Investigators learned Cobos had been sleeping in a stolen truck in the area for at least two days before the deadly stabbing.

Police said Cobos has problems with the truck and asked the woman to help him, however she was unable to do so because of her age. Cobos then forced his way into her home and stabbed her multiple times before taking some items, as well as her vehicle.

Cobos was later found driving the woman's car and attempting to return back to the murder scene.

Investigators said he was questioned and later confessed to his role in the woman's death.
