Suspect in custody after drive-by shooting injures teen in north Harris County

Officials said a female teen was shot and transported to the hospital where she is in stable condition.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A suspect in the drive-by shooting, which left a teen injured, is now in custody, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the scene Thursday evening in the 14500 block of Maeline Street near Aldine Westfield Road.

Deputies said a man pulled up to a trailer where a 13-year-old and her 14-year-old sister were sitting on a bed inside. They said the suspect fired a single shot into the trailer, striking the 13-year-old in the chest.

The teen was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Witnesses said they saw a white pickup truck leave the scene. Deputies provided a photo of the truck from a nearby local business.

Deputies believe the house may be targeted because the suspect shot once and left. The two teens, a boy and a father live in home, according to officials.
