RICHMOND, Texas – A suspect was arrested for murder Saturday after police say he shot and killed a man near an apartment complex in Richmond.
Rigoberto Rauda, 18, was taken into custody around 6 a.m. at Terminal A inside Bush Intercontinental Airport for the murder of 23-year-old Albany Andres Sosa. The Richmond Police Department said Rauda had a plane ticket for Salt Lake City, Utah, with a final destination to Sacramento, California. A fake I.D. was used to purchase the ticket.
On September 16, Sosa was found unresponsive in his vehicle after he crashed his car in a ditch near Lamar Park Apartment Complex on FM 1640, according to Richmond PD.
At first the incident was reported as a car crash, but responding officers determined Sosa had been shot. Investigators believe he tried to get away after he was shot, and that's when he crashed.
Rauda sits in Fort Bend County Jail with no bond. He was also arrested for an Aggravated Robbery warrant out of Rosenberg.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
