Remains found during search for body of Daniel Brown

Daniel Brown has been missing since Jan. 25. A suspect has been arrested in connection to his death.

HOUSTON — Remains were found Friday in the search for the body of a Houston father who has been missing since January, Houston police confirmed.

The remains were found in a wooded area in the 5100 block of T.C. Jester Boulevard. Houston police are waiting on autopsy results but believe the remains are those of 35-year-old Daniel Brown.

Daniel has been missing Jan. 25. His mother, Alma Brown, is hoping the remains are those of her son.

"Well, I'm hoping that the body that they found is Daniel," Alma said. "He hasn't been positively ID'd yet but hopefully real soon it is and then at least I could see my son."

Trevyon Tellis, 27, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Daniel. Police said Daniel was killed in Tellis' home the night he went missing.

Tellis has reportedly confessed to the murder.

Alma said she suspected Tellis was the suspect early on.

"I took him to the police station on the 27th when I filed the missing person's report and they went that night and searched his house and nothing came of that. He just walked away," Brown said.

Alma doesn't believe Tellis acted alone. She went to the scene where the remains were found and said there was no way Tellis could have taken Brown to that area by himself.

But Tellis has been the only one arrested for Daniel's murder. He has already appeared in court and was given a $200,000 bond.

Although the judge has ordered Tellis not to have any contact with Alma, she's still concerned.

"And then if they let him out, if he going to kill my son what would he do to me?"

And if the news of her son's remains being found weren't enough, more heartache is ahead.

"We haven't even told the children," Alma said. "We haven't told any of the kids anything. So what do we say to them?"

Among the many questions this mother still has, there is one that tears at her soul the most — why?

"He could've asked us for the money," Alma said "Do you know we would've given him the money. You know he could've kept him held him captive we would have paid a ransom. But to just kill somebody with no regard for life."

This investigation is ongoing as the remains found have not been formally identified.
