HOUSTON - The AK-47 with which a teen accidentally shot and critically injured herself Tuesday was stolen, deputies revealed Wednesday.
Officials initially said a juvenile was driving in the 4000 block of Wintergreen Drive and shot the teen. However, witnesses later told deputies the 17-year-old accidentally shot herself in the leg. Authorities said she put the gun down her pants and shot herself in the leg.
The gun, deputies said, was stolen from a home in the 3900 block of Atascocita Road. The injured teen and a juvenile who allegedly provided her the gun have been identified as suspects in the burglary.
Constables are seeking unlawful carrying of a weapon and burglary of a habitation on the 17-year-old girl.
The juvenile male was arrested and booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center on tampering with evidence and burglary of a habitation charges.
