HOUSTON — Houston police are searching for clues as to who shot and killed a man found lying in the road overnight.

Houston police rushed to the area off the South Loop and Martin Luther King Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and found a man lying in the street.

HPD says a man, 44-years-old, was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been shot more than once.

A pickup truck, believed to belong to him and with blood inside, was found abandoned several miles away.

Homicide investigators are talking with witnesses and people who live in the area to see if that can figure out exactly what happened to that victim.

There were reports of another shooting nearby, but authorities don’t think they’re related.

“There was a shooting about the same time of this drop over on Bataan which is two or three blocks from here,” HPD Lt. Larry Crowson said. “We don’t have any indication right now that they’re related. Of course, we’ll check into that just to make sure.”

Luckily, no one was injured in that shooting.

As far of the victim here, no information has been released at this time.

But police say witnesses so far didn’t recognize the victim.
