FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — A man was carjacked outside a grocery store in the Katy/Cinco Ranch area late Thursday, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office says.

The crime happened at about 10:50 p.m. at the Kroger on FM 1093 at Spring Green Boulevard.

Deputies say the owner had just placed his groceries in the car when he was approached by three juveniles who pointed a gun at him and demanded his vehicle. The man gave them the vehicle, and the teens fled the scene.

The victim called 911 from inside the store, and police in Houston were able to track the car using GPS. The suspects were located on I-45 near Hobby Airport, and after a short chase they were taken into custody.

“It’s unfortunate these kids have already become criminals”, stated Fort Bend Co. Sheriff Troy Nehls. “I hope Harris County keeps them locked up so they don’t terrorize anyone else.”
