BAYTOWN, Texas - The owner of a beagle is closer to getting justice after a postal worker was charged and accused of pepper spraying the dog.
Razaq Ali-Balogun, a mailman in Baytown, has been charged with animal cruelty. He is accused of using pepper spray on the dog that was barking at him behind a fence.
The alleged incident happened in May 2018. According to Harris County Pct. 5 Constable Ted Heap’s Office, surveillance video shows Ali-Balogun walking his mail route in the 400 block of East Jack Avenue.
The video, according to deputies, shows the miniature beagle barking at Ali-Balogun from behind a double fence before Ali-Balogun sprays the dog in its face through the fence.
Deputies said the homeowner’s mother noticed something was not right while looking from inside the house and found the dog with one eye swollen shut. The dog did not suffer any permanent injuries, according to deputies.
