KATY, Texas — Deputies spent Tuesday night searching for one of two suspects accused of making threats at a business in Katy, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
Gonzalez said one man was taken into custody but a second man managed to run away from deputies while wearing handcuffs. He has since been taken back into custody.
This happened on Katy Fort Bend Road north of I-10. Gonzalez first tweeted about the incident at 8:12 p.m.
According to HCSO, the man who ran from deputies jumped into a drainage ditch and ran into a culvert that ran parallel to I-10. A rookie deputy who had been with the department for less than a year injured his ankle when he jumped into the ditch to chase the suspect.
Deputies brought search dogs and the suspect was found a short time later.
HCSO said the man was out on bond for a previous vehicular manslaughter charge.
