HOUSTON – A suspected drunk driver faces a hit-and-run charge after deputies say he struck a truck that was pushed into a man unloading lawn equipment overnight.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, it happened at 11 p.m. Wednesday night on Pine Cone near Skyview in northwest Houston.
At that time, a 21-year-old man was heading east on Pine Cone in his Chevrolet pickup. He struck another pickup parked on the side of the road.
Behind that parked pickup was the owner, who was unloading lawn equipment when his pickup was struck. The collision pushed the truck into him.
He was thrown to the ground and struck his head on the roadway. The victim was airlifted to a local hospital in critical condition.
A resident in a car gave chase to the suspect vehicle. The suspect driver went to another street in the neighborhood and crashed into a second truck.
Deputies arrived and arrested the man on a hit-and-run charge and driving while intoxicated.
