HOUSTON — A neighbor’s tip about dope dealing led police to a house on Harding Street. And as officers approached the front door, the two suspects inside started shooting.

“We have an officer down. 7700 Harding. We need HFD ASAP,” was heard over radios.

In the initial chaos, there was briefly some confusion over whether the street was Hardy up north or Harding.

There was also concern over the safety of the HFD crews coming to help those injured officers.

“Hey, is the scene still hot in the house?”

“Suspect is DOA on Harding. We need HFD’s men to come up front. Got three officers hit.”

Over the radio, officers and paramedics could be heard working together to keep the roads clear to help the injured officers get to the hospital faster.
