HOUSTON — A man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a woman in the Channelview area has been captured in Lexington, Ky.

Homicide investigators say Jerry Wayne Greer was staying at a local Lexington hotel on Saturday. Lexington Police officers set up surveillance on the hotel, and when he exited the hotel, he was arrested without incident.

Greer will be extradited back to Harris County to face arraignment.

On Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, 2:16 a.m., deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office responded to an in-progress call in the 17100 block of Market in east Harris County.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered the victim, a 29-year-old Edna McWorter dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Deputies spoke with several witnesses that stated they saw the victim arguing with Greer, who then pulled out a handgun and shot the victim once in the chest.

Greer then drove away from the scene in a dark-colored Ford Mustang.

Greer at the time was wanted on felony charges of domestic assault.

He faces a murder charge in connection to McWorter’s death.
