Break-in at gun store leads to SWAT response, traffic delays along Eastex Freeway

BREAKING UPDATE at 8:55 a.m. — The sheriff's office confirms its personnel went into the gun store and found nobody inside.

Whoever broke into the building apparently fled before the SWAT team arrived.

HOUSTON — A SWAT team, ATF and Harris County Sheriff's Deputies have responded to a gun store break-in along the Eastex Freeway.

As of 7 a.m. traffic in the southbound mainlanes was backed up a couple miles from exit near Hopper. The frontage road is entirely closed at the scene.

HCSO stated they were not sure if the suspect or suspects were still in the store. It was reported at least one male suspect was seen breaking in early Tuesday.
