Denny's robbers on the run after leading police on chase from Shenandoah into Houston

The Houston Airport System says flights at Bush were not impacted, but police say two men remain on the run.

HOUSTON – Two men armed with handguns held up a Denny's restaurant in Shenandoah early Thursday, resulting in a police chase that ended in north Houston.

The men robbed the restaurant on I-45 at about 3:40 a.m., forcing a waitress to the floor and taking her cell phone. The store's manager was forced to the safe, where she filled the suspects' bag with cash.

A Shenandoah police officer was outside the restaurant and chased the suspects as they fled with a getaway driver in a 1999 GMC SUV.

The suspects went southbound on I-45 to Hardy, according to Shenandoah PD.

Houston police joined in on the chase before the suspects bailed in the 17000 block of JFK, just down the road from Bush Intercontinental Airport.

One person was detained, but Shenandoah police say two men got away. By 7:30 a.m. police called off the search, saying the thick brush and fog made it too dangerous to continue looking for the remaining men.

A detailed description of the suspects was not immediately released.

The Houston Airport System says flights at Bush were not impacted.
