Another credit card skimmer found at a Cypress gas station

There are a few things you can do to avoid being skimmed at gas stations.

CYPRESS, Texas - Another credit card skimmer was found at a gas station in Cypress.

The skimmer was found at a gas station located at 23240 Northwest Freeway. A customer spotted the skimmer and alerted authorities. It was removed Wednesday.

A clerk at the gas station told KHOU 11 he was shocked it had been installed at his station.

It's unclear if the skimmer recorded customers' credit or debit card numbers or how long it was in use at the gas station.

Deputies previously confiscated another skimmer, a non-blue tooth skimmer at the Chevron at 17501 Telge Road back in October.

It was found by a customer on Pump #7 and employees marked the pump out of order.

Officials say there are a few things to you can do to protect yourself, while at the pump.

1. Use the pump closest to the storefront.

2. Before pumping, check for unusual Bluetooth signals with your phone.

If it shows a string of numbers or letters, a skimmer could be in use.

3. Check that the security tape on the pump cabinet hasn’t been damaged.

4. Always save the receipt and monitor your bank statements after filling up.

5. The safest bet is to pay inside with cash.

6. If you think you've been skimmed, contact 1-800-TELL-TDA and we will send an inspector to check it out.
