1 killed in double shooting at La Marque Sonic drive-in

An 18-year-old was taken to HCA Houston Mainland Medical in Texas City, where died at the hospital’s emergency room, officials confirmed.

LA MARQUE, Texas — An 18-year-old is dead after a double shooting at a Sonic restaurant in La Marque, police confirm.

This happened at the Sonic on FM 1764 near Interstate 45 around 2:12 p.m.

Two men were sitting in their vehicle when someone started firing. Both were hit, but one of them was able to drive to UTMB Health urgent care clinic in Texas City.

An 18-year-old was taken to HCA Houston Mainland Medical in Texas City, where died at the hospital’s emergency room, officials confirmed.

His identity was not released, pending confirmation from the Galveston County Medical Examiner. 

The condition of the second shooting victim was unknown, but he was still alive Sunday evening, officials said. 

What led to the shooting and any details of a possible shooter are not yet available, La Marque Police Department Lt. Chad Waggoner said. 

Waggoner confirmed police are working to follow up leads on the shooter and have identified a suspect. 

A description of the gunman wasn’t released.
